Esteban Lazo, Politburo member and president of the National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba, has sent a letter to the President of the National Assembly of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello, which expresses the solidarity of the Cuban deputies with “the Government led by President Nicolas Maduro, in particular the National Assembly over which you preside and the Venezuelan people in their just struggle in defence of national sovereignty and civic peace and stability.”

In his letter, Lazo strongly condemns the new US government actions against the South American nation, in addition to the unjust sanctions applied to that sister nation as part of the economic and media war trying to destabilize it. “Venezuela is a sovereign state and has every right to take any action it deems necessary to defend its independence against the interventionist actions of the US governmental authorities and Congress,” says the text.

Also, the Committees for the Defence of the Revolution (CDR) joined the support for the cause of the homeland of Bolivar and Chavez in a declaration which recognizes that “for more than a decade our nations have strengthened the bonds of friendship and solidarity on various fronts and today the nation’s largest mass organization stands ready to defend, in whatever circumstances, the interests of the Venezuelan people.”
