Appeal for Funds for May Day Solidarity Delegation to Cuba

Dear Friends,

We are a group of family members of victims of police brutality and activists who fight against police brutality traveling to Cuba April 30, three weeks from now.  We plan to learn more about the Cuban Revolution and to explain to the Cuban people the truth explain to the Cuban people the truth
about the American “justice” system, its police, courts and prisons.

We joined in efforts
to fight for the freedom of the Cuban Five while they were unjustly incarcerated here in
the U.S. Many of us have been involved in the Stolen Lives project, highlighting the
unjust, violent killings by police in the United States.

Iris Baez, mother of Anthony Baez who was killed by the NY Police Department
in 1994, wrote a letter to the family members of the Cuban Five, celebrating their
release. We want to continue this solidarity by meeting families of the Cuban Five. At
an October 2014 meeting defending the Cuban Five, Juanita Young – mother of
Malcolm Ferguson, killed by the NYPD in 2000 – told the 300 people in attendance she
was determined to meet the families of the Cuban Five.

To make this trip possible for family members traveling from New York, we need
to raise about 10 thousand dollars. We are appealing for funds from organizations and
individuals who are supporters of the struggles of families who seek to prevent more
police brutality and killings. Please contact Juanita Young at 646-294-8344, or Iris Baez
at 718-364-2879 as soon as possible if you can make a contribution to our trip.

Sincerely,
