President Raúl Castro closed the National Assembly of People’s Power third period of ordinary sessions with a speech offering a snapshot of the country’s current economic situation, and addressing the international situation, in addition to its impact on Cuba.

Over the course of four days, Cuban deputies meeting in Havana’s Convention Center, heard reports on progress in the implementation of Policy Guidelines approved at the 6th Congress of the Communist Party of Cuba, and the country’s Economic Plan for the first half 2014.

PARIS (AP) — In her new book, former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton says she pushed President Barack Obama to lift or ease the decades-long U.S. embargo on Cuba because it was no longer useful to American interests or promoting change on the communist island.th
In excerpts of the book “Hard Choices” obtained by The Associated Press ahead of its release next week, Clinton writes that the embargo has given communist leaders Fidel and Raul Castro an excuse not to enact democratic reforms. And she says opposition from some in Congress to normalizing relations — “to keep Cuba in a deep freeze” — has hurt both the United States and the Cuban people. She says the 2009 arrest by Cuba of USAID contractor Alan Gross and Havana’s refusal to release him on humanitarian grounds is a “tragedy” for improving ties.

The fact that Cuba has already developed four cancer vaccines undoubtedly is big news for humanity if you bear in mind that according to the World Health Organization nearly 8 million people die from that disease every year. However, the mainstream media have completely ignored this reality.

In 2012, Cuba patented the first therapeutic vaccine in the world against advanced lung cancer, called CIMAVAX-EGF. In January 2013, the island announced the second cancer vaccine, known as Racotumomab.cuban meds

Defending Venezuela we defend our América, said Raul Castro

thBOLIVIA, June 16, 2014. Cuban president Raul Castro called for the building of the Greater Homeland and the defense of Latin American and Caribbean Unity. Speaking at the Pluri-national and Social Integration Meeting of the Peoples, a gathering included on the agenda of the Summit of the Group of 77 plus China, Raul Castro said Venezuela deserves the full support of the region in the face of current aggressions.

Imperialism and oligarchies that were not able to defeat President Hugo Chavez think that this is the opportunity to topple the Bolivarian Revolution with non-conventional war methods, said the Cuban leader.

Defending Venezuela we defend Bolivia and our Americas, said Raul Castro, who added that it would be a very hard blow if the current process of true integration is now stopped, after its highest peak has been the setting up of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, he stressed.

The Cuban head of state also referred to the important achievements of the government led by Evo Morales, who is the host of the extraordinary summit of the Group of 77 plus China, the largest group at the UN organization, which now turns fifty years old.

After mentioning several goals reached by the Bolivian government in favor of the people in the economic and social fields, Raul recalled that Che Guevara would have turned 86 years old today and he repeated Che’s phrase Onwards to Victory Forever.

The forum was attended by Ecuador’s Rafael Correa, Venezuela’s Nicolas Maduro, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon among other heads of delegation and a large number of Bolivians from all walks of life who packed at the Tahuichi Aguilera stadium in the city of Santa Cruz.
