Havana, October 9 (RHC)– Workers, students and the population of all Cuban provinces will pay tribute this Monday to their heroes in the context of the Camilo-Che Commemorative Days, which will be held until October 28.
The tributes began the day before with voluntary work in productive centers to remember the Cuban-Argentine guerrilla Ernesto Che Guevara, on the 56th anniversary of his capture and subsequent assassination in 1967, when he was participating in the struggle for the liberation of Bolivia.
In the central city of Santa Clara, a city liberated by Che’s troops, tribute was paid to the man also known here as the Heroic Guerrilla, in the Memorial that keeps his remains together with those of his comrades in the Bolivian heroic deed.
These initiatives include talks, youth debates and patriotic acts, among other cultural, sports and political activities, and will culminate with the traditional throwing of flowers into the sea, on the date of the physical disappearance of Commander Camilo Cienfuegos in a plane crash in 1959.
It was precisely Commander Ernesto Guevara, Cienfuegos’ boss, friend and comrade, the promoter of the beautiful tradition that summons Cubans every October 28 to the coasts, rivers and streams throughout the country to remember the man he called the Lord of the Vanguard. The historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, led the first massive tribute to Camilo Cienfuegos from the reefs of Havana’s Malecon in 1960.
The untimely death of Camilo and Che while carrying out revolutionary missions turned them into symbols of commitment and dedication to the cause initiated in Cuba on January 1, 1959, after the triumph of the Rebel Army against the tyranny of dictator Fulgencio Batista. (Source:PL)

Refers a note published on the Foreign Ministry’s website that by the secret, direct and individual vote of 146 member states of the United Nations General Assembly, Cuba was the country with the highest number of votes in the region.
It adds that this election ratifies the recognition of the international community to the significant advances in the enjoyment of all human rights for all people. (Sources: @DiazCanelB and CubaMinrex)

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel on Thursday reaffirmed his country’s unconditional support for the right of Palestine to be a free and sovereign State, the Cuban leader said during official talks with his Palestinian counterpart Mahmoud Abbas who is visiting Cuba to attend the G77+China Summit.

The Summit, with a high presence of representatives from several nations and organizations, focuses on today´s development challenges including the role of science, technology and innovation.

Made up of 134 member States, the G77+China accounts for 80 % of the world’s population and more than two thirds of the UN membership.

Israeli troops occupied Palestinian East Jerusalem back in the 1967 war, and have since refused to withdraw despite UN Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.

In 1980 the Israeli authorities declared the entire city as the eternal and indivisible capital of the country, a stance rejected by the international community, which considers the eastern area as part of the future Palestinian state.

Havana, September 28 (RHC)– Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel today headed the last day and closing ceremony of the 10th Congress of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) at the Havana Convention Palace.
Accompanying the Cuban leader are Manuel Marrero Cruz, Prime Minister, Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Gerardo Hernández Nordelo, national coordinator of the CDRs, and as special guest José Ramón Machado Ventura, Commander of the Rebel Army.
The work of the largest mass organization in the country is discussed: its functioning, the need to update and strengthen it, the incorporation of more young people in its leadership, and the importance of its work in every community in Cuba.
The CDRs are celebrating their 63rd anniversary this Thursday, immersed in a process of revitalization of their structures and adaptation to the new times.
Since their foundation, the Committees have been active in the fight against crime, illegalities, corruption, drugs and social indiscipline, and to face these scourges, they have formed vigilance detachments in the communities.(Source:PL)
