As a token of the friendly relations and collaboration with Cuba, a naval detachment from the Russian Federation arrived yesterday at the port of Havana.
The grouping, composed of the frigate Gorshkov; the nuclear-powered submarine Kazan; the fleet oil tanker Pashin; and the salvage tug Nikolai Chiker, will be anchored in the capital until June 17.
Upon their arrival, 21 salvos were fired from one of the visiting ships, as a salute to the nation, which were reciprocated by an artillery battery of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, from the San Carlos de La Cabaña Fortress.
“None of the ships are nuclear weapons carriers”, stated the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces, which also informed that today and Saturday 15, the population will be able to visit the vessels.
The reception was presided over by flotilla captain José Luis Souto Galindo, second in command of the Revolutionary Navy, and by Viktor Koronelli, Russian ambassador.
