Cuba reiterates its solidarity with the brotherly people of Mexico
Latin America and the Caribbean must continue to be a Zone of Peace
Cuba condemned, in the strongest terms, the violent raid by the Ecuadorian police on the diplomatic headquarters of Mexico in Quito on April 5, considering it a flagrant violation of International Law, in particular the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, the right to asylum and the sovereignty of that nation.
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla’s statement was made at the Extraordinary Ministerial Meeting of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), convened to examine the breach of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, and in which he said that Cuba defends the force of law, not the right to force.
He also pointed out the need for Latin America and the Caribbean to continue to be a Zone of Peace, as proclaimed by the Celac, which met ten years ago in Havana, with the signature of the Heads of State and Government, for which dialogue and negotiation are the only acceptable ways to resolve differences between our nations, in accordance with the principles of International Law and in full compliance with the Charter of the United Nations.
In his speech, the Foreign Minister recalled the message sent by President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, in which he reiterated Cuba’s full solidarity and support to President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, Secretary Alicia Bárcena, the Government of Mexico and the dear and brotherly Mexican people, in view of the unacceptable violation and outrage of their Embassy in Quito.
Rodríguez Parrilla insisted that Mexico can and will be able to count on Cuba’s disposition and willingness to accompany them in the actions they undertake in the face of this serious transgression of International Law.
Cuba was elected member of two permanent commissions of the United Nations
It will be a member of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice until 2027 and the Commission on Social Development until 2029

Cuba was elected yesterday as a full member, by acclamation, of the Commission on Social Development and the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, both of the United Nations.
This was announced on the social network X by Party Political Bureau member and Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, who stressed that “this election is evidence of the international recognition of our country’s work in these areas.”
The Cubaminrex website explained that, as a member of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, the island will actively contribute to global efforts to combat national and transnational crime, and its membership expires in 2027.
It will be a member of the Commission on Social Development until 2029, and will participate in addressing major current global challenges, such as the elimination of poverty, the reduction of inequality and the protection of the environment.

Thus congratulated the young people with outstanding merits, Meyvi Estévez Echeverría, second secretary of the Young Communist League (UJC), at the solemn ceremony of awarding decorations of the organization, which was attended by Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic.
Ten outstanding centers throughout the country, in production and services, received the Flag of Honor, which is the highest award given by the National Bureau of the UJC to youth groups from all sectors of the nation.
The Julio Antonio Mella Order was also awarded to eight young people with an exemplary trajectory and with extraordinary merits achieved in study, creative work and in the defense of the interests of the new generations.
During the ceremony, the Abel Santamaría Medal was also awarded to 31 outstanding workers, and the José Antonio Echeverría Medal to nine students with outstanding conditions in study and teaching research, and an exemplary attitude.
The ceremony, which took place a few hours before April 4 -the 62nd anniversary of the UJC and the 63rd of the José Martí Pioneers Organization (OPJM)-, was also attended by Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Party; as well as other members of the Political Bureau, the State and the Government. The Commander of the Rebel Army, José Ramón Machado Ventura, was especially present at the tribute.
UN experts qualify the blockade as a violation of human rights
The government of Washington has not yet responded to the interpellations received from the Human Rights Council

The U.S. blockade against Cuba has been qualified as a serious violation of International Law. This was made known by the special rapporteurs of the United Nations Human Rights Council on the Right to Food, the Right to Development, Extreme Poverty and the Negative Impact of Unilateral Coercive Measures on the Enjoyment of Human Rights.
In an unprecedented communication, quoted by the Cuban Foreign Ministry, they point out the aggravation caused by the inclusion of the Island in the list of countries sponsoring terrorism, which also undermines the principle of non-intervention in internal affairs, the principle of sovereign equality of States, and the obligation to settle disputes by peaceful means.
According to the communiqué, once the 60-day privacy period for this type of information has expired, the joint letter sent in January to the U.S. Government by the experts has been made public, who affirm that the unilateral coercive measures applied against Cuba are serious violations of the human rights of the Cuban people, including their right to life, to food, to the highest possible level of health, to live without poverty, without discrimination and the archipelago’s right to its development.
The serious consequences of restricting Cuba’s access to financing for agricultural and rural development programs, and for the rehabilitation and modernization of agricultural equipment and infrastructure, are also denounced.
Washington has not yet responded to the interpellations received from the Human Rights Council.
