Havana, April 26 (RHC)– Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel received representatives of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of Cuba at the Palace of the Revolution on Wednesday.
As reported by the Twitter account of the Presidency, the meeting is part of the different exchanges that the Head of State carries out with different sectors of society.
“The First Secretary of the Central Committee of the @PartidoPCC and President of the Republic, @DiazCanelB , received this Wednesday, at the Palace of the Revolution, representatives of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of #Cuba, as part of his meetings with different sectors.”
The Conference of Catholic Bishops of Cuba is an organism of the Catholic Church that affiliates all the dioceses and archdioceses of the Island, and is presided over by Monsignor Emilio Aranguren Echeverría

Havana, Apr 20 (RHC) The leader of the Cuban Revolution, Army General Raúl Castro, and President Miguel Díaz-Canel received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Serguei Lavrov.
According to Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez, they discussed prioritized projects underway and perspectives for the effective participation of Russia in the Economic-Social Development Plan of Cuba until 2030.
The highest representative of Russian diplomacy was received earlier by his counterpart from this Antillean nation, who thanked him for the solidarity of his country during the confrontation with the Covid-19 pandemic, with donations of food and medical supplies.
During the meeting, Rodríguez expressed the island’s gratitude for the invariable position of the Eurasian nation in the demand for the cessation of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba and for the removal of the Island from the spurious list of countries sponsors of terrorism. Deputy Esteban Lazo was ratified as president of the National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba, as well as the rest of the parliament’s leadership, who also head the Council of State.

During the constitutive session of the 10th Legislature, the parliamentarians, by means of a free, equal, direct and secret vote, ratified their confidence in Lazo, Vice President Ana María Mari, and Secretary Homero Acosta.

The legislators also approved the new Council of State, where 10 of its 21 members were renewed, giving way to relevant figures of the Cuban social scenario, such as scientists, athletes, health personnel, or representatives of the different levels of government.

In this regard, the presence of a president of a municipal People’s Power assembly and a president of a people’s council stand out, thus reinforcing the importance given to municipal autonomy and local development in the current projections of the country.

According to the head of the National Electoral Council, Alina Balseiro, all 462 deputies present at the session exercised their right to vote.

The deputies to the Cuban Parliament today re-elected Miguel Díaz-Canel to hold the post of President of the Republic for the next five years, and Salvador Valdés to occupy the vice presidency.

The president of the National Electoral Council, Alina Balseiro, pointed out that all of the 462 parliamentarians present at the constitutive session of the X Legislature of the National Assembly of People’s Power exercised their right to vote.

Of the ballots deposited, she added, 460 were valid and two were left blank, and 97.66 percent of the deputies supported the president’s proposal, while 93.4 percent did so for the vice president.

During the presentation of the candidacies, several deputies supported the proposals and praised the qualities of both leaders.

Among other aspects, the work of the president was recognized, who led the country in the midst of very adverse circumstances, gave priority to collective work, innovation and science.

They also mentioned that the work methods applied, with visits to the territories, dialogue with the population and permanent exchange with representatives of civil society, earned them the respect and affection of the citizens.
