Army General Raúl Castro Ruz, leader of the Cuban Revolution, presided this Saturday over the political act and military ceremony on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Military Counterintelligence, established on November 7, 1962, and whose history is, by many reasons, the history of the Revolution itself.

The Army General conveyed his warmest congratulations to the chiefs, officers, non-commissioned officers, cadets, sergeants, soldiers and civilian workers of the Military Counterintelligence, through a letter read at the commemoration by Division General Víctor Rojo Ramos , head of the Political Directorate of the Revolutionary Armed Forces.

In the letter, Raúl expressed his certainty that the members of this prestigious body “will continue to preserve, with the professionalism and honesty that characterizes them, the security of the Revolutionary Armed Forces and the work of the Revolution.”

Challenges, commitments, history, integrity and recognition were discussed at the tribute, held at the “Comandante Arides Estévez Sánchez” Higher Military School, where members of the Political Bureau, Army Corps General Álvaro López Miera and Division General Lázaro Álvarez Casas, Ministers of the Revolutionary Armed Forces and of the Interior, respectively. Along with them, a representation of the main chiefs of the two armed institutions, as well as founders and retirees of the Military Counterintelligence, also attended.

After the report of the Chief of the troops and the review of the same, with the corresponding greeting from the reviewing officer, Captain Roxana Díaz Prieto, a member of the Military Counterintelligence, spoke, who on behalf of the new generations of officers recognized that, even though a lot of work has been done, the challenges that lie ahead are even greater.

“For the revolutionaries there is no rest, we have to be united and work to continue consolidating the achievements made,” he emphasized.

In her words, the young officer ratified the “Party, Army General Raúl Castro Ruz and the people of Cuba, that the replacement is guaranteed, because the combatants of the Military Counterintelligence will never disappoint the confidence that the leadership of the Revolution has deposited in us.

This morning of homage was also a favorable setting for the Army General to receive, from the hands of Division General José Miguel Gómez del Vallín, head of the Military Counterintelligence Headquarters, a diploma acknowledging his status as head founder of this body of the Revolutionary Armed Forces and his work in these six decades as educator par excellence of generations of officers.

In turn, the leader of the Cuban Revolution presented a recognition to the Military Counterintelligence, whose members are distinguished by dedication, responsibility and modesty in carrying out their tasks, who during the last 60 years have protected the institution armed against the plans of the internal and external enemy.

“The date we celebrate is a glorious day for those of us who trained in this body and a privilege for those of us who have the pleasure of commemorating this 60th anniversary,” said the Head of the Military Counterintelligence Headquarters, when pronouncing the central words of the political act and military ceremony that culminated with the parade of the troops.

After taking a brief tour of various moments of the revolutionary struggle, which over the years became the founding roots of Military Counterintelligence, Division General Gómez del Vallín recalled in a special way the role played by the Commander in Chief and General of the Army, over the course of these decades.

In his speech he also recognized the founders, heroes and martyrs, from whom we inherited, he said, their sacrifice, courage and revolutionary attitude; to the collaborators “who have worked alongside us”; and particularly to the young people, who in every era have permeated their spirit of work and cemented the Revolution with the sweat of sacrifice.

For the combatants of the Military Counterintelligence, he asserted, there is no other alternative than systematic and intelligent work, with a rational and efficient use of the forces and means at our disposal, based on the deepest conviction of the importance of the work that We perform.

This anniversary ─he underlined─ must constitute a “moment of necessary reflection and critical analysis of everything we do, where objectivity and high professional rigor prevail, devoid of triumphalist criteria that make it difficult for us to appreciate reality with all its crudeness and nuances”.

In the midst of so many challenges that define the current scenario of the country and constitute an enormous challenge for women and men who make up the ranks of this military body, the Head of the Military Counterintelligence Headquarters considered it an honor that the Army General guides them, guide and demand from everyone that “every day we be more professional, disciplined, efficient and better combatants to fulfill the complex tasks and missions that lie ahead.”

How little the United States respects the world

How little the United States respects the world by maintaining the blockade against Cuba!
For 30 years, the UN General Assembly votes in favor of the need to end the U.S. blockade against Cuba and this is reinforced, as a sign of little respect for the international community, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez said on Twitter.

The First Secretary of the Communist Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, wrote on Twitter that it has been 30 years since Cuba presented before the UN the detailed report of the crime constituted by the U.S. blockade against the Island.

“The General Assembly condemns it almost unanimously. And the blockade is intensified. How little the United States respects the international community. How little it respects the rest of the world,” the Head of State pointed out.

In recent days, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla presented a report of the main damages caused by this unilateral policy between 2021 and 2022 before the diplomatic corps and the press media accredited in Cuba.

The report Necessity of ending the U.S. economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba covers the period between August 2021 and February 2022, and will be presented for the thirtieth time before the United Nations General Assembly on November 2 and 3.

He assured that, in the analyzed period, that policy originated losses in the order of 3,806.5 million dollars, a figure 49% higher than that reported in the previous period (January-July 2021). “This is a record amount in just seven months, and is a reflection of the intensified impact of the blockade,” he said, while denouncing how this siege violates the most sensitive economic and social sectors of national life, and impacts Cubans, both inside and outside the country.

But, in spite of this unilateral and aggressive policy that seeks to undermine the Cuban social project, Cuba does not stop and renews itself all the time.

In order to measure the effects of the blockade against Cuba, it is essential to take into account the very serious human damage caused by this policy, aimed at denting the conscience of Cubans, frustrating their paradigm of development and inducing them to discontent.

Taking into account the behavior of the dollar against the value of gold in the international market, the blockade has caused losses of more than one trillion 391 111 million dollars.

“Cuba has the right to live without the blockade, it has the right to live in peace, everyone would be better off without the blockade, the United States would be a better country without blockading us, the world would be better off without the blockade against Cuba,” the Cuban Foreign Minister stressed at the time.

Cuba celebrates Thursday a new victory in its struggle against the U.S. blockade, by achieving overwhelming support in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) for a resolution approved by 185 votes in favor, two against and two abstentions.

The report presented for the thirtieth time states that only between August 2021 and February 2022 that unilateral policy caused Cuba losses in the order of 3,806.5 million dollars. The figure is 49% higher than that reported between January and July 2021 and a record in just seven months.

At current prices, the accumulated damages during six decades of the blockade amount to 150,410.8 million dollars, with a great weight on sectors such as health and education, in addition to the damage to the national economy and the quality of life of Cuban families.

In the first 14 months of the Biden Administration alone, the losses caused by the blockade amounted to 6,364 million dollars, which is equivalent to an impact of more than 454 million dollars a month and more than 15 million dollars a day, according to the document.

The extraterritorial impact of the blockade harms the sovereignty of the countries of the United Nations, sanctions their businessmen and impedes access to their ports for third party ships that dock in Cuba. It also prevents the importation into Cuba of articles produced in any country when they have 10% or more of U.S. components, the foreign minister denounced.
