Raul Castro attends G77+China Summit in Havana

The meeting is being attended by more than a hundred delegations from member countries of the bloc and functionaries from international organizations, who will discuss political and economic issues of relevance for developing nations.

In addition to the words of the President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, the country holding this year’s temporary presidency of the association, the Secretary General of the United Nations, António Guterres, who also took the floor, followed by the general debate.

The participants are expected to follow up on the group’s historical demands, particularly in relation to the new international economic order, the reform of the world financial architecture, the rejection of unilateral coercive measures, situations of concentration of wealth and the burden of foreign debt. The G77+China is the most diverse consultation group in the multilateral sphere, with 134 member states representing two-thirds of the membership of the United Nations and 80 percent of the world’s population.
