Our martyrs: Neither forgotten, or dead
Yesterday, Martyrs of the Revolution Day, Cuban President Díaz-Canel tweeted a heartfelt message: “July 30, a sad day in the memory of Cuba. Frank País and Raúl Pujol were murdered in Santiago de Cuba. The rebellious city wears the 26th and sings the Bayamo anthem. Today is Martyrs’ Day. Glory to those who had only their young, promising lives, and gave them for the homeland”

SANTIAGO DE CUBA.— The First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee, Army General Army Raul Castro Ruz, sent a floral tribute to honor Frank Pais Garcia on the 63rd anniversary of his brutal assassination, placed alongside his tomb, during the people of Santiago’s customary commemoration every July 30, Martyrs of the Revolution Day.
Central Committee members and leaders of the Provincial Defense Council, Lázaro Expósito Canto and Beatriz Johnson Urrutia, presided the events in the city’s patrimonial Santa Ifigenia Cmetery, with the participation of other representatives of the Party, government, the Young Communist League, mass organizations, the Revolutionary Armed Forces and the Ministry of the Interior.
Floral wreaths from Army General Raul Castro, President of the Republic Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, National Assembly of People’s Power President Esteban Lazo Hernández, and the people of Cuba, were placed before the pantheon of July 26th Martyrs.
